Healthcare Providers

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.

BLS Provider Renewal course is a fast-paced course designed for experienced healthcare providers; covering single-rescuer and multi-rescuer basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. The course is best suited to healthcare providers who use BLS skills regularly and therefore require limited practice to be successful.

Stop the Bleed is an initiative of the American College of Surgeons and the Hartford Consensus that provides civilian bystanders the skills and basic tools to stop uncontrolled bleeding in an emergency situation and save lives.

After completion of this course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to apply the lifesaving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and proper techniques used for a choking adult, child or baby. This CPR/AED course meets worker safety and insurance board provincial/territorial legislation.

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider course enables healthcare professionals to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. The course materials are scenario-based, and a team approach is used to teach emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest, from the early minutes through patient stabilization and/or the transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.

A 10 hour interactive, hands-on pet first aid certification through Walks N Wags. This course teaches any pet owner or pet care professional the early signs of illness, prevention of injury, emergency response skills, choking, airway, CPR skills, wound care, splinting and much more!

This adventurous course is for those who have an interest in sharpening skills and strategies to provide extended care to those in need for up to 24 hours. A portion of this course is taught in an outdoor setting that requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training.

Cannabis is the Workplace: Management Training provides participants with information about cannabis in the workplace, focusing on the issue of impairment and providing practical guidance to help develop and apply appropriate and effective policies and procedures.

Fire Safety teaches participants about the legislated fire safety responsibilities of the employer and the worker, describes safe work practices related to fire prevention, and provides practical information about emergency response in situations involving fire.

The term “Lockout/Tagout” refers to specific practices and procedures to safeguard workers from the unexpected energizing or start-up of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities. 

This online course assists learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief, with emphasis on self-care and personal protection. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model and will learn how to cope with the effects of various types of stress. This course can also be taken in combination with the Red Cross Caring for Others online course to supplement and strengthen an overall psychosocial wellness program.

The Medical Terminology course provides an introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The course will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment with an introduction to the language of medicine. In addition, the program will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology.
