Course Description: ITLS Recertification courses keep experienced ITLS providers and instructors up to date with the ITLS curriculum and skills. ITLS Recertification focuses on of trauma assessment and management skills for the experienced provider who has already completed the Basic or Advanced Provider course.

Intended Audience: Our ITLS online course offers a comprehensive curriculum that caters to a wide range of professionals. It is suitable for all levels of pre-hospital personnel, including first responders, emergency medical responders, firefighters, PCP, ACP, CCP, wilderness and industrial medical staff. It is also relevant for in-hospital / clinic personnel, such as ER/ICU/ trauma nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians. 

Course Prerequisites: Students are tested based on their skill level (Basic or Advanced) and will also take the ITLS Written Exam and Practical Exam.

Course Content

• ITLS Provider Recertification focuses on recertification of trauma assessment and management skills for the experienced provider who has already completed the Basic or Advanced Provider course.
• Patient assessment and management
• Basic and advanced airway management
• Spine management:  Short SMR devices/Emergency rescue and rapid extrication
• Spine management:  Helmet management/Log roll/Long backboard
• Traction splints
• Chest decompression/Fluid resuscitation

Testing:

• Written Exam
• Practical Exam

Course Duration:

• 8 hours in-class

Certification

• Certification is valid for 3 years upon course completion.

• Students are encouraged to review the ITLS Provider manual and study the Pre-Test in advance of the course to prepare for the Written Exam.

• It is your responsibility as the participant to acquire the required textbook, which is not provided as part of the course. The recommended manual for the course is the 9th Edition of the International Trauma Life Support Book (ITLS Book).
