Can I register through the Heart and Stroke/Canadian Red Cross/ITLS/ Stop the Bleed/ Walks N’ Wags portals?

We take care of that for you! Simply visit our Courses page to select your desired course & course date. Then complete the checkout portion. We will register you using your email address with the provider associated with your chosen course. You will then also receive an email from the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Red Cross with further instructions.

How to I cancel my course?

To reschedule or cancel a course, please email us at info@firstaidplus.ca with your name, course name and date, and the email you registered yourself for the course. We will be happy to assist you.

How long do I have to reschedule?

How long does the course last?

Each course duration is indicated on the course description page. Please visit your desired course page and check the part where it says “Course Duration”

Do we get a lunch break / how long are the breaks?

Students get two 15-minute breaks and 30-minute lunch break. Lunch time is determined by the instructor

When do I get my certificate?

In most cases, certificates will be delivered by email in 2-4 business days. For Friday-Saturday-Sunday courses, certificates can be expected on Monday.

If I have a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from a different provider, can I join the Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS Renewal?

The Heart and Stroke Foundation only acknowledges BLS by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. BLS from another provider (non-Heart & Stroke Foundation) can be accepted on the HSF BLS Renewal course only after completing the Heart and Stroke BLS Provider Renewal Prerequisite Challenge at the student’s cost ($10). This certificate is valid for 90 days, so it will allow you to book a BLS Renewal course in this time frame. The printed HSF challenge certificate and a certificate from another provider are presented to the instructor by the participant upon arrival before the start of the BLS Renewal course. If the HSF online challenge module is not completed, then the participant with a non-HSF BLS must complete the full HSF BLS course.

Are books and materials required for the courses?

Books and materials are required for our courses by the training partners we teach for. Some courses have materials and books included in the course. Please check your desired course page under “Course Materials” where it should indicate if materials are included

Where can l purchase the course materials?

Heart & Stroke Foundation textbooks and materials are available for purchase at the following link: Course Materials – First Aid Plus (first-aid-plus-canada.myshopify.com)
Or simply log in to your Heart and Stroke account. Once you are logged in, you will be automatically transferred to the HOME page. On the HOME page, you will see a red button that says SHOP. Please click on that and follow the steps. In order to know what books you need to purchase, please check your desired course page under “Course Materials”.
ITLS materials are available on our website: Course Materials – First Aid Plus (first-aid-plus-canada.myshopify.com) or it can be purchased on Amazon.
Red Cross materials are included in the course and will be sent to you by email after the registration as an electronic copy. You will also be able to get access to your electronic materials by logging in to the Red Cross account. Once you are logged in, you will be automatically transferred to the HOME page. On the HOME page, you will see a button that says MY PROFILE. Please click on that and then click the button that says MY DIGITAL BOOKS. All the materials related to your course will be on that page.

Do you have parking?

Yes! Parking Is free and is available on the top floor of the parking garage. Also available: OC Transpo Routes – 252 – 256 -57 and 58 stop on Moodie Drive (our location will also be service by the O-Train in the future).

Are there hotels nearby?

Yes, we have a partnered with the Hyatt Place Ottawa – West, directly across from us! You will receive access to a booking code on your confirmation email after registering for a course.

Does First Aid Plus ask for the Covid-19 Vaccine Passports?

No

What if the course gets cancelled?

We try our hardest to never cancel a course, that said there may be reasons to cancel, we will notify our students as soon as possible. We would gladly allow you to reschedule your course or fully refund it.

What is the difference between Level A, C and BLS-Basic Life Support CPR?

Level A – CPR Sequences on Adults.
Level C – CPR Sequences on Adults, Children, and Infants.
BLS – Basic Life Support CPR (NEW – It Replaces CPR/AED Level HCP – additional skills for Health Care Providers/Professionals) includes Level C CPR plus 2 rescuer CPR and use of a Bag-Valve-Mask.
First Aid Plus provides Level C courses at no extra cost. If for some reason you need level A, please email us at info@firstaidplus.ca.

If l have a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate that is already expired, can I join the Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Renewal?

The Heart and Stroke Foundation does not allow students to participate in the BLS Renewal by the Heart and Stroke Foundation if their previous certificate is expired. Expired BLS can be accepted on the HSF BLS Renewal course only after completing the Heart and Stroke BLS Provider Renewal Prerequisite Challenge at the student’s cost ($10). This certificate is valid for 90 days, so it will allow you to book a BLS Renewal course in this time frame. The printed HSF challenge certificate and an old BLS by Heart and Stroke certificate from another provider are presented to the instructor by the participant upon arrival before the start of the BLS Renewal course. If the HSF online challenge module is not completed, then the participant with an expired HSF BLS must complete the full HSF BLS course.

If l have a Heart and Stroke ACLS or PALS certificate that is already expired, can l join the ACLS or PALS Renewal course?

The Heart and Stroke Foundation does not allow students to participate in the ACLS or PALS Renewal by the Heart and Stroke Foundation if their previous certificate is expired. The participant with an expired HSF ACLS or PALS must complete the full HSF ACLS or PALS course.

If l have a BLS from another provider (non-Heart & Stroke Foundation), can l attend the ACLS or PALS course by Heart and Stroke?

The Heart and Stroke Foundation only acknowledges BLS by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. BLS from another provider (non-Heart & Stroke Foundation) can be accepted on the HSF ACLS and PALS courses only after completing the Heart and Stroke BLS Provider Renewal Prerequisite Challenge at the student’s cost ($10).
