First Aid for Dogs and Cats Course Description:
The Online First Aid for Dogs and Cats course teaches you how to respond to common emergencies involving cats and dogs. Covers essential skills like dog CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), cat first aid, and pet emergency care. Learn how to be prepare for any emergency and obtain a pet first aid certification.
Course Modules:
Module 1: Recognizing Normal Vital Signs: Discover how to monitor your pet's breathing rate, heart rate, body temperature, and mucous membranes, empowering you to detect changes and respond quickly.
Module 2: Breathing and Cardiac Emergencies: Gain critical skills in assessing your pet’s airways, breathing, and circulation, performing CPR for dogs and cats, and managing choking.
Module 3: Wounds and Bleeding: Understand how to treat abrasions, bite wounds, lacerations, and bleeding, ensuring effective care and wound management.
Module 4: Seizures: Learn to identify seizure symptoms, understand causes, and safely assist your pet during and after an episode.
Module 5: Preventative Care and Well-being: Embrace strategies for daily health, sickness prevention, and emergency preparedness to ensure your pet’s happiness and health.
Intended Audience:
- Pet owners and anyone interested in becoming a dog sitter or a cat sitter.
- Anyone 13 years of age and older.
Course Prerequisites:
This course has no prerequisites.
Evaluation Process:
At the end of each module, there will be a short knowledge check. These are not tests; you are not being evaluated. They are just there so you can check your own understanding of what has been covered so far. Remember, you can always go back and review if you wish.
Upon successfully completing the course, participants are awarded a printable certificate for their records.
Course Duration:
Approximately 1 hour online.
This online training course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at any time and can resume where they left off. The duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge of the subject matter.
