SAM Medical Soft Shell Splint
Splints are orthopedic devices that are used to protect and support fractured or injured bones and joints. They help to immobilize the injured limb to keep the bone in place until medical help arrives, and it can be replaced with a cast.
Touting unrivaled flexibility, SAM Splint bends into any simple curve, becoming exponentially stronger and more supportive. SAM Splint is globally acclaimed by emergency care providers, outdoor enthusiasts, and even NASA.
SAM Medical Soft Shell Splint is engineered with the same revolutionary C-Curve Principle as the original SAM Medical Splint, building strength from curves. With unrivaled flexibility, SAM Medical Soft Shell Splint bends into any simple arc, becoming exponentially stronger and more supportive, immobilizing sprains, strains, and minimally displaced fractures.
Product attributes:
- Comes in a soft material
- Lightweight
- Reusable
- Cleanable Exterior
- Standard width 4.25" in wide, XL 5.5" in wide
STRENGTH IN CURVES
SAM Soft Shell Splint leverages the revolutionary C-Curve Principle to mold its foam and aluminum layers into structural arcs, strong enough for pre-cast or post-cast care while remaining lighter and more transportable than traditional splints that rely on heavy, rigid materials. Bend it back into its original form and it’s ready to be remolded.
DESIGNED FOR VERSATILITY
SAM Soft Shell Splint is perfect for pre and post-operative support or after removal of a surgical cast, making it ideal for ERs, PT clinics, homecare, and more.
Additional information:
- Standard width 4.25" in wide, XL 5.5" in wide
Non-clinical testing has demonstrated the SAM Splint is MR
Conditional. A patient with this device securely attached can
be safely scanned in an MR system meeting the following
conditions:
- The static magnetic field of 1.5 T and 3.0 T
- Maximum spatial field gradient of 10,000 gauss/cm or less
- Maximum MR system reported whole body averaged specific absorption rate (SAR) of 4 W/kg for 15 minutes of scanning in the Normal Operating Mode of operation
Under the scan conditions defined above, the SAM Splint is expected to produce a maximum temperature rise of less than 2.0° C (3.6° F) in a 1.5 T and 2.5° C (4.5° F) in 3.0 T.
The SAM Splint will not present an additional risk or hazard
to a patient in the 3.0 T MRI environment with regard to
translational attraction or migration.
In non-clinical testing, the image artifact caused by the
the device extends approximately 10 mm relative to the size and
the shape of the SAM Splint in a 3.0 T MRI system.
