Intended Audience: The PALS provider renewal course is exclusively designed for medical professionals responsible for initiating and leading advanced life support during pediatric emergencies. Also, it caters to healthcare students who are either seeking PALS certification for the first time or renewing their existing credentials.
This comprehensive course ensures that participants stay updated with the latest guidelines and best practices in pediatric emergency care, equipping them with the necessary PALS skills and knowledge to confidently respond to critical situations, such as respiratory and cardiac arrest.
Course Prerequisites:
- Current Heart & Stroke BLS Provider certification
- Current Heart & Stroke PALS Provider certification that is about to expire. Your certificate cannot be expired (it expires 2 years to the day after it was issued).
- PALS pre-course self-assessment certificate (passing score = 70%). The link for the pre-course self-assessment will be sent to you after the course registration.
The following competencies are expected of students entering a PALS Provider course:
- High-quality BLS
- Recognition of common pediatric cardiac ECG rhythms
- Effective airway management and use of adjuncts
- Knowledge of pediatric cardiopulmonary pharmacology
- Practical management of complex cases
- High-performance team skills
Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for a PALS Provider Course Completion Card.
